Here they are putting duct tape on my left (sliding) shoe. We were warned about 10 times to step onto the ice with our right foot first then the left. Clearly the waivers we had to sign were necessary.

Basically you slide in that stance with all of your weight on the sliding foot. It's actually pretty hard and takes good balance.

The curling club was a block from the train station. Lucky for us that block contained a bar.
